Time is more important than distance.Service intervals are both distance and time based.
Even if
you haven’t clocked up enough kilometres to make the next service interval, the
amount of time between services means items like oil and filters will be nearing
the end of their economical performance life, especially with vehicles that
travel short distances as acids, water and sludge quickly build up in the
oil.
If your vehicle is left too long between services sludgy oil
will reduce the effectiveness of lubrication, cleaning and cooling of the
engine.
These are vital to maintain engine performance, efficiency and economy.
Therefore it is important to have your oil and filter changed every six months
of city driving.
Manufacturers have extended service times, from 10000 kms to
15000 kms to keep down costs. However, if you read the small print in the log
book it says if you are driving under ‘abnormal conditions’ have the vehicle
serviced much more frequently.
Examples of ‘abnormal conditions’ are city
driving or short ‘to the shops and back’ trips.
All our services include a safety check on lights, electrics,
cooling system, fluid levels and oil leaks, gearbox, differential, fuel tank, CV

We, as your local trusted mechanics, can provide
NEW CAR WARRANTY SERVICING
that maintains the new vehicle warranty as guaranteed by the Motor Traders Association of NSW
Remember – Most new vehicle manufacturer’s warranties will be voided unless your vehicle is serviced every 6 months or 10000 km.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, the ACCC, says that in relation to general servicing of your vehicle, any parts used, whether genuine or of appropriate quality, will not void your new car warranty.
*ACCC Express, April 2005, Issue 1445-9671
According to the ACCC, there are three servicing prerequisites you need to meet to maintain your warranty.
You need to get your car serviced by someone qualified. This doesn’t necessarily mean an authorised agent of the manufacturer (ie a dealer).
Maintaining your warranty’s coverage is getting your servicing done to the manufacturer’s specifications. This is really important because, if for example, there is a 15,000km service interval and you’ve driven 25,000km without getting a service, you could be up for a new engine if you’ve run too low on oil. You have to conform to the service interval specified in the manual. If it says six months or 15,000km you have to service the car when the time gets to six months or the odometer gets to 15,000km — whichever occurs first.
Whoever performs the service needs to meet the manufacturer’s specifications (for example they must change the oil and replace it with oil of appropriate specification, and do everything else in the schedule by the book).
The industry ‘default’ warranty is three years or 100,000km – whichever comes first.
We stamp the logbook and the factory warranty remains valid. We pride ourselves on the use of quality 'name brand' parts fitted by fully qualified technicians.
Due to our stringent standards new car statutory warranties remain unaffected by an Sutherland Shire Home Tuning & LPG Centre log book service.
Some retailers encourage consumers to buy an extended warranty offering additional benefits for extra cost.
